We strive to go above and beyond expectations in our approach to care. That's why we provide our residents with noteworthy levels of personal attention via generous staffing numbers, exceptional food, a dedicated activities team and NHS approved care management and communication technology. 

Shared Activities Program: Enriching Lives

​Both our residential and nursing sites benefit from a vibrant, shared activities program, totaling 82 hours per week across the two buildings. This includes a dedicated activities coordinator and two assistants, with two staff attending for three days and at least one every day, averaging nearly 12 hours of active engagement daily. From music and crafts to gentle exercise and social events, these tailored programs spark joy and connection for all 35 residents.​​​​​

Shared Services, Singular Care

Our two sites operate as a cohesive community, with shared management, cooking, and housekeeping services ensuring consistency and quality. Fresh, home-cooked meals complement our exceptional care, creating a warm, welcoming home for all residents. By exceeding the UK average of 3.4 hours of one-to-one care—delivering ~5 hours at our residential site and ~4.96 hours at our nursing site—we strive to provide dignified care for our residents and peace of mind to their families.​​​​

Embracing Technology

We believe that technology should support proper care, not replace it. We have adopted the latest care management software (Carevision) and nurse call systems (Arquella) as part of our commitment to providing peace of mind; improved care planning, note taking, reporting and auditing helps transparency and communication. 

The buildings have complete superfast wifi so our residents and families can stay in touch remotely via video calling on our computer tablets too.

Exceptional Staffing Numbers

31-33 Howard Road: Our 23-Bed Nursing Home

Our 23-bed nursing home provides specialised care for residents with higher clinical needs, backed by a robust team of carers and nurses. This site delivers exceptional one-to-one care, ensuring safety and comfort around the clock.

  • Staffing Levels:

    • Morning (6 hours): 6 carers + 1 nurse for 23 residents (3.29:1 ratio), delivering ~1.83 hours per resident.

    • Afternoon (6 hours): 5 carers + 1 nurse (3.83:1 ratio), delivering ~1.57 hours per resident.

    • Night (12 hours): 2 carers + 1 nurse (7.67:1 ratio), delivering ~1.57 hours per resident.

    • Total Daily Care: Approximately 4.96 hours of one-to-one care per resident, ~46% more than the UK average of 3.4 hours.

With nurses on every shift, our nursing site combines clinical expertise with heartfelt care, offering more direct support than traditional ratios (5:1 morning, 8:1 afternoon, 10:1 night). This ensures residents receive not only medical oversight but also meaningful, individualized attention.*

The Alexandra is designed for those seeking a supportive environment with a strong sense of community. With a focus on independence and comfort, we provide an impressive level of one-to-one care, far surpassing typical UK care home standards.

  • Staffing Levels:

    • Morning (6 hours): 3 carers for 12 residents (4:1 ratio), delivering ~1.5 hours per resident.

    • Afternoon (6 hours): 3 carers (4:1 ratio), delivering ~1.5 hours per resident.

    • Night (12 hours): 2 carers (6:1 ratio), delivering ~2 hours per resident.

    • Total Daily Care: Approximately 5 hours of one-to-one care per resident, ~47% more than the UK average of 3.4 hours.

Our dedicated carers ensure residents receive tailored assistance with daily tasks like dressing, dining, and mobility, fostering dignity and warmth. Compared to traditional care home ratios (5:1 morning, 8:1 afternoon, 10:1 night), our residential site offers significantly more personalized attention, with stronger staffing at every shift.
